About Sanctuary Builders
David Putnam and Larry John formed Sanctuary Builders in 2004. Over the years David has built hundreds of homes in the Denver Metro Area. Although Denver and the surrounding area have many great attributes, David and Larry found that Castle Rock, in Douglas County, and the neighboring communities fit their vision of building craftsmen homes, on spectacular lots, in unique communities.
David and Larry founded Sanctuary Builders on three guiding principals – Integrity, Quality, Relationships.

David Putnam - Owner / Builder
In 1971, David graduated from The University of New Mexico with a degree in Economics. He met the joy of his life, Pam, at the University. David and Pam have been married for 35 wonderful years. They have two terrific sons, and three delightful grandchildren. David’s favorite name for himself is “Grandpa”.
After graduation, David and Pam moved to Colorado. David worked for a while in the retail industry, before discovering his second passion in life, (his family being the first), new home construction. David joined Medema Homes as a project superintendent in 1978. Since then he has held positions as Project Manager for the largest single-family builder in Colorado and Vice President of Construction for one of the larger semi-custom builders in Colorado. In 1997 he began Legacy Custom Homes, which has grown into Castle Rock's premier semi-custom homebuilder, known as Legacy Artisan Homes.
David’s experience in residential construction includes: product development, construction management, purchasing, warranty, systems development, systems implementation, sales and land planning.
On David's free time, you'll find him spending time with his lovely bride of 33 years, or visiting his grandchildren in San Diego.

Larry John - Owner / CFO
 Larry moved to Colorado at an early age and quickly decided that he would live in Colorado the rest of his life. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree, with an accounting major, from the University of Denver in 1970. He participated in an intern program with Samsonite Corp during his last two years of college. He was then hired by Samsonite upon graduation and has spent his entire professional career there.
While growing up in Grand Junction he met his wife, Mary. They were married in 1969 and after 37 years, she has still kept him around. They have two wonderful daughters and have so far given them five terrific grandchildren. They currently make their home in Cedaredge, Colorado.
Larry enjoys the mountains during all the seasons. He hunts, fishes, four wheels, hikes, explores, skis, meditates and spends as much time as possible in the outdoors.
